How to play 7-card stud poker – The betting process
The game starts off by dealing three cards to each player – two of them face down and one would be face up. The first round of betting happens in a clockwise direction from the player who holds the highest hand. At this point during the game, the highest hand would usually comprise of aces. The following three betting rounds would be dealt with the cards face up, whereas the final card would be dealt face down. This shall bring the game to a five-card showdown hand. Betting rounds occur between each deal. Although the Mississippi form of the game may perhaps feature only four betting rounds and two cards are dealt for the final round. Just like the other forms of poker, the player with the best five-card hand would take the pot. However, there are no community cards here. The hand rankings are similar to the ones in traditional poker games. A good betting strategy for 7-card stud poker lies in the strength of the hand, the betting schemes adopted by your opponents, the visible cards as well as the size of the pot.
